Planters® Dry roasted peanuts
Serving size is
39 pieces, or 3 small handfuls (1 large handful) of peanuts. Of the list of
four categories of fats, the first two are “bad” and the second two are “good.”
Bad fats total 2 grams, of 14grams total. Net carbs are 3g, that is, 5g total
minus 2g fiber. High in protein (7g) but also high in sugar (2g) and calories
(170) per serving. By comparison, the serving size for cashews is 16 pieces, or
2 small handfuls (1 medium handful). The same calorie, carb, etc. values apply.
Eating more than one handful multiplies the above numbers accordingly.
The ingredients
list shows salt, sugar, and cornstarch as three of the four key substances.
Notice that this product also contains monosodium glutamate (MSG) and corn
syrup solids (another form of sugar). Nuts are an excellent between-meal snack,
but not with these additives. Choose another Planters® nut product that
does not have these anti-diet ingredients, e.g., plain, unsalted nuts.
